Safety Coordinator

Location: Springfield, Missouri

The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for the Storee Safety Program including safety training and job site safety inspection.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

• Monitor safety efforts and qualifications of Storee employees and subcontractors.
• Oversee the issuance of safety documents and training and other company-specific information to all new employees and site personnel.
• Conduct/coordinate Project Safety Tool Box Meetings with Storee employees and subcontractor employees on site on a weekly basis.
• Discuss safety with the on-site subcontractor’s supervisory personnel.
• Coordinate with Project Supervision so that necessary personal protective equipment and safety materials are utilized.
• Support Storee Safety Program by developing and presenting employee and subcontractor safety training.
• Oversee the recording of all safety-related meetings, programs, safety pre-plans, inspections, correspondence, directives, citations, for Safety program tracking.
• Coordinate responses and compliance with requirements from Storee’s insurance company.
• Conduct documented Project Safety and Health Inspections not less than twice each month.
• Inspect fleet vehicles for proper material handling and transporting as well as operational items related to safety (i.e., tires, lights, and signage). Perform all required follow-up procedures.   Perform inspections consisting of job use items such as PPE, ladders, welding rigs, etc.
• Investigate all injuries and review all accident reports, coordinating corrective measures with Storee employees or subcontractor personnel.
• Lead the indoctrination of new Storee employees and subcontractor personnel into the Safety program and culture.
• Post and keep current all required safety documents and literature.
• Monitor protection of the general public by minimizing construction hazards.
• Monitor maintenance of adequate first aid supplies on the Project.
• Maintain project OSHA 300 log of injuries and illnesses.
• Enforce Storee safety policies using the company’s disciplinary policy.

Qualifications:

• Four-year occupational safety/health degree or equivalent combinations of training and related experience.
• At least five years construction and/or industrial safety experience.
• Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and company regulations.
• Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures.
• Excellent communication, organization, decision making, and problem-solving skills required.
• Ability to manage/administer safety orientations, oversee substance abuse program, investigate/report on injuries/illnesses/near misses and other to perform other various safety functions on-site.
• Ability to engage with small and large groups of personnel for adequate training and communication of Safety Program to promote safety as a culture.
• Ability to work with all construction groups—management, owners, trades, employees, and subcontractors.

• Ability to use Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) required with experience with Microsoft Sharepoint preferred.
